Can Factory is committed to protecting your privacy. Because Allergen processes sensitive health information, we adhere to UK GDPR and the highest standards of data protection.

Processing of Special Category Data (Health Data)

To deliver a personalised experience, Allergen collects information about your dietary requirements, allergies, medications (where you choose to record them), and food diary entries. Under UK data protection legislation, information concerning your physical health is classified as Special Category Data.

We process this data only with your explicit consent, which you provide when you accept this policy during setup. Your health data is used solely to power core app features—such as managing your allergy profile, food diary, and allergy-card translations—and is stored locally on your device. We do not sell your health data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Family and Dependent Profiles

You may create profiles and enter dietary and health information on behalf of family members or dependents. By doing so, you confirm that you have the legal authority and explicit consent required to process their Special Category Data in this app. If you enter data for a minor, you confirm that you hold parental responsibility.

How Your Data Is Stored

Allergy, food diary, and profile information is stored on your device using encrypted on-device storage provided by iOS. We do not operate a separate cloud account for your health records in the app. Optional features—such as exporting your food diary or generating an Apple Wallet pass—may send data you choose to share to other apps or services you initiate; those transfers are under your control.

App Diagnostics and Telemetry

We do not include your food diary entries, custom allergy names, or other health-related text in analytics or crash reports. If we introduce anonymised crash logs or device telemetry to improve stability, that data will not contain personal health information and will be used only to maintain and improve the app.

Data Retention and Deletion

We do not retain your Special Category Data longer than necessary for you to use the app. You can delete an individual profile—and all associated allergies and food diary entries—from within the app. You can also remove all app data using the reset option in Settings, or by deleting the app from your device, which permanently removes locally stored health data.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated text will be made available in the app. Continued use of Allergen after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy, where required by law.
